- Kapitel 5 -

(Leviticus 13:1–46)

And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,

Commaund the children of Israel that they put out of the hoste euery leper, and euery one that hath an issue, and whosoeuer is defiled by the dead.

Both male and female shall ye put out: out of the hoste shall yee put them, that they defile not their tentes among whome I dwell.

And the children of Israel did so, and put them out of the host, euen as the Lord had commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel.

Restitution for Trespasses

(Luke 19:1–10)

And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,

Speake vnto the children of Israel, When a man or woman shall commit any sinne that men commit, and transgresse against the Lord, when that person shall trespasse,

Then they shall confesse their sinne which they haue done, and shall restore the domage thereof with his principall, and put the fift part of it more thereto, and shall giue it vnto him, against whom he hath trespassed.

But if the man haue no kinseman, to whom he shoulde restore the domage, the domage shall be restored to the Lord for the Priests vse besides the ramme of the atonement, whereby hee shall make atonement for him.

And euery offring of all the holy thinges of the children of Israel, which they bring vnto the Priest, shalbe his.

And euery mans halowed things shall bee his: that is, whatsoeuer any man giueth the Priest, it shalbe his.

The Adultery Test

And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,

Speake vnto the children of Israel, and say vnto them, If any mans wife turne to euill, and commit a trespasse against him,

So that an other man lie with her fleshly, and it bee hid from the eyes of her husband, and kept close, and yet she be defiled, and there be no witnesse against her, neither she taken with the maner,

If he be moued with a ielous minde, so that he is ielous ouer his wife, which is defiled, or if he haue a ielous minde, so that he is ielous ouer his wife, which is not defiled,

Then shall the man bring his wife to the Priest, and bring her offering with her, the tenth part of an Ephah of barly meale, but he shall not powre oyle vpon it, nor put incense thereon: for it is an offring of ielousie, an offring for a remembrance, calling the sinne to minde:

And the Priest shall bring her, and set her before the Lord.

Then the Priest shall take the holy water in an earthen vessel, and of the dust that is in the floore of the Tabernacle, euen the Priest shall take it and put it into the water.

After, the Priest shall set the woman before the Lord, and vncouer the womans head, and put the offring of the memorial in her hands: it is the ielousie offering, and the Priest shall haue bitter and cursed water in his hand,

And the Priest shall charge her by an othe, and say vnto the woman, If no man haue lien with thee, neither thou hast turned to vncleannesse from thine husband, be free from this bitter and cursed water.

But if thou hast turned from thine husband, and so art defiled, and some man hath lyen with thee beside thine husband,

(Then the Priest shall charge the woman with an othe of cursing, and the Priest shall say vnto the woman) The Lord make thee to be accursed, and detestable for the othe among thy people, and the Lord cause thy thigh to rot, and thy belly to swell:

And that this cursed water may goe into thy bowels, to cause thy belly to swell, and thy thigh to rot. Then the woman shall answere, Amen, Amen.

After, the Priest shall write these curses in a booke, and shall blot them out with the bitter water,

And shall cause the woman to drinke ye bitter and cursed water, and the cursed water, turned into bitternesse, shall enter into her.

Then the Priest shall take the ielousie offring out of the womans hand, and shall shake the offring before the Lord, and offer it vpon ye altar.

And the Priest shall take an handfull of the offring for a memorial thereof, and burne it vpon the altar, and afterwarde make the woman drinke the water.

When yee haue made her drinke the water, (if she bee defiled and haue trespassed against her husband) then shall the cursed water, turned into bitternesse, enter into her, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall rot, and the woman shall be accursed among her people.

But if the woman bee not defiled, but bee cleane, she shalbe free and shall conceiue and beare.

This is the law of ielousie, when a wife turneth from her husband and is defiled,

Or when a man is moued with a ielous minde being ielous ouer his wife then shall he bring the woman before the Lord, and the Priest shall do to her according to al this lawe,

And the man shalbe free from sinne, but this woman shall beare her iniquitie.

Zeremoniell unreine Personen isoliert

(3. Mose 13,1-46)

Und der Herr redete zu Moses und sprach:

Befiehl den Söhnen Israels, dass sie alle mit Aussatz und Samenfluss Behafteten und alle, welche sich an einem Toten verunreinigt haben, aus dem Lager herausschaffen;

sowohl Männer wie Weiber schaffet aus dem Lager hinaus, damit sie es nicht verunreinigen, da ich unter euch wohne.

Und die Söhne Israels taten also und schafften sie vor das Lager hinaus, wie der Herr zu Moses geredet hatte.

Bekenntnis und Wiedergutmachung

(Lukas 19,1-10)

Und der Herr redete zu Moses und sprach:

Sage den Söhnen Israels: Wenn ein Mann oder ein Weib eine von allen den Sünden begeht, wie sie die Menschen zu begehen pflegen, und aus Unachtsamkeit ein Gebot des Herrn übertritt und sich so verschuldet,

so sollen sie ihre Sünde bekennen und das Hauptgut samt dem fünften Teile darüber an den zurückgeben, gegen welchen sie sich verfehlt haben.

Ist aber niemand da, der es empfangen könnte, so sollen sie es dem Herrn geben, und es soll dem Priester gehören, mit Ausnahme des Widders, der als Versöhnungsopfer dargebracht wird, damit es ein Opfer der Sühne sei.

Auch alle Erstlinge, welche die Söhne Israels opfern, gehören dem Priester;

und alles, was ein jeder im Heiligtume opfert, und den Händen des Priesters übergibt, soll diesem gehören.

Betreffend untreue Ehefrauen

Und der Herr redete zu Moses und sprach:

Rede zu den Söhnen Israels und sage ihnen: Wenn ein verheiratetes Weib sich vergeht und, ihren Ehemann verachtend,

einem anderen Manne beiwohnt, und der Ehemann es nicht nachweisen kann, sondern der Ehebruch verborgen bleibt und durch Zeugen nicht erwiesen werden kann, weil sie nicht im Ehebruche betroffen worden ist;

und wenn der Geist der Eifersucht den Mann wider sein Weib aufbringt, mag sie verunreinigt sein, oder aus falschem Argwohne beschuldigt werden,

so soll er sie zum Priester führen und als Opfergabe für sie ein Zehntel Epha Gerstenmehl darbringen; doch soll er kein Öl darauf gießen, noch Weihrauch darauf legen; denn es ist ein Eifersuchtsopfer und eine Gabe, die den Ehebruch offenbar machen soll.

Der Priester soll sie nun hinzuführen, und vor den Herrn stellen;

und geheiligtes Wasser in ein irdenes Gefäß nehmen, und ein wenig Staub vom Boden des Zeltes hineintun.

Wenn dann das Weib vor den Augen des Herrn steht, soll er ihr Haupt entblößen und ihr das Speiseopfer der Erinnerung und das Opfer der Eifersucht in die Hände geben, er selbst aber soll das bittere Wasser in der Hand halten, das er verwünscht und mit Flüchen belastet hat.

Hierauf soll er sie beschwören und sagen: Hat kein fremder Mann dir beigewohnt und hast du dich nicht, indem du die Treue gegen deinen Ehegatten verletztest, verunreinigt, so wird dir dies bittere Wasser nicht schaden, über welches ich die Verfluchungen gesprochen habe.

Wenn du dich aber gegen deinen Mann vergangen und dich verunreinigt und einem anderen Manne beigewohnt hast,

so sollen diese Verwünschungen über dich kommen: Der Herr gebe dich dem Fluche preis und mache dich zum Beispiele für alle unter seinem Volke; er lasse deine Hüfte faulen und deinen Leib anschwellen, dass er zerberste.

Das Wasser des Fluches dringe in deine Eingeweide, so dass dein Leib aufschwelle und deine Hüfte verfaule. Und das Weib soll antworten: Amen, Amen!

Hierauf soll der Priester diese Flüche auf ein Blatt schreiben, und sie mit den bittern Wasser abwaschen, über das er die Flüche gesprochen hat,

und ihr dasselbe zu trinken geben. Wenn sie ausgetrunken hat,

soll der Priester das Speiseopfer der Eifersucht aus ihrer Hand nehmen, und es vor dem Herrn erheben, und auf den Altar legen, und zwar nehme er zuerst

eine Handvoll von dem Opfer, welches dargebracht wird, und verbrenne es auf dem Altare; und so gebe er dem Weibe das bittere Wasser zu trinken.

Hat sie es nun getrunken, so wird, wenn sie sich befleckt, und ihren Mann hintangesetzt hat, und des Ehebruches schuldig ist, das Wasser des Fluches sie durchdringen, so dass ihr Leib anschwillt und ihre Hüfte verfault; und das Weib wird für das ganze Volk zum Fluche und zum Beispiel sein.

Hat sie sich aber nicht verunreinigt, so soll es ihr nicht schaden, und sie wird Kinder gebären.

Das sind die Bestimmungen über die Eifersucht. Wenn ein Weib ihrem Manne untreu ist und sich verunreinigt,

und der Mann, vom Geiste der Eifersucht bewegt, sie vor den Herrn führt, und der Priester mit ihr nach allem verfährt, was geschrieben ist:

so wird der Mann frei von Schuld, sie aber soll die Folgen ihrer Missetat tragen.
