- Kapitel 25 -

“Then will the kingdom of the heavens be likened to ten virgins, who, having taken their lamps, went forth to meet the bridegroom;

and five of them were prudent, and five foolish;

they who were foolish having taken their lamps, did not take with themselves oil;

and the prudent took oil in their vessels, with their lamps.

And the bridegroom lingering, they all nodded and were sleeping,

and in the middle of the night a cry was made, Behold, the bridegroom comes; go forth to meet him!

Then all those virgins rose, and trimmed their lamps,

and the foolish said to the prudent, Give us of your oil, because our lamps are going out;

and the prudent answered, saying, Lest there may not be sufficient for us and you, go rather to those selling, and buy for yourselves.

And while they are going away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those ready went in with him to the wedding feasts, and the door was shut;

and afterward come also the rest of the virgins, saying, Lord, lord, open to us;

and he answering said, Truly I say to you, I have not known you.

Watch therefore, for you have not known the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man comes.

The Parable of the Talents

(Luke 19:11–27)

For—as a man going abroad called his own servants, and delivered to them his substance,

and to one he gave five talents, and to another two, and to another one, to each according to his several ability, went abroad immediately.

And he who received the five talents, having gone, worked with them, and made five other talents;

in like manner also he who [received] the two, he gained, also he, other two;

and he who received the one, having gone away, dug in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.

And after a long time comes the lord of those servants, and takes reckoning with them;

and he who received the five talents, having come, brought five other talents, saying, Lord, you delivered five talents to me; behold, I gained five other talents besides them.

And his lord said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant, you were faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things; enter into the joy of your lord.

And he also, who received the two talents, having come, said, Lord, you delivered to me two talents; behold, I gained two other talents besides them.

His lord said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant, you were faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things; enter into the joy of your lord.

And he also who has received the one talent, having come, said, Lord, I knew you, that you are a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering from where you did not scatter;

and having been afraid, having gone away, I hid your talent in the earth; behold, you have your own!

And his lord answering said to him, Evil servant, and slothful, you had known that I reap where I did not sow, and I gather from where I did not scatter!

It was necessary [for] you then to put my money to the money-lenders, and having come I had received my own with increase.

Take therefore from him the talent, and give to him having the ten talents,

for to everyone having will be given, and he will have overabundance, and from him who is not having, even that which he has will be taken from him;

and cast forth the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness; there will be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth.

The Sheep and the Goats

And whenever the Son of Man may come in His glory, and all the holy messengers with Him, then He will sit on a throne of His glory;

and all the nations will be gathered together before Him, and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats,

and He will set the sheep indeed on His right hand, and the goats on the left.

Then the King will say to those on His right hand, Come, the blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom that has been prepared for you from the foundation of the world;

for I hungered, and you gave Me to eat; I thirsted, and you gave Me to drink; I was a stranger, and you received Me;

naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you looked after Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.

Then will the righteous answer Him, saying, Lord, when did we see You hungering, and we nourished? Or thirsting, and we gave to drink?

And when did we see You a stranger, and we received? Or naked, and we clothed?

And when did we see You ailing or in prison, and we came to You?

And the King answering, will say to them, Truly I say to you, inasmuch as you did [it] to one of these My brothers—the least—you did [it] to Me.

Then will He say also to those on the left hand, Go from Me, the cursed, into the continuous fire that has been prepared for the Devil and his messengers;

for I hungered, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I thirsted, and you gave Me nothing to drink;

I was a stranger, and you did not receive Me; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick and in prison, and you did not look after Me.

Then they will answer, they also, saying, Lord, when did we see You hungering, or thirsting, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and we did not minister to You?

Then will He answer them, saying, Truly I say to you, inasmuch as you did [it] not to one of these, the least, you did [it] not to Me.

And these will go away into continuous punishment, but the righteous into continuous life.”

Das Gleichnis von den klugen und törichten Jungfrauen

Dann wird das Himmelreich gleich sein zehn Jungfrauen, welche ihre Lampen nahmen und ausgingen, dem Bräutigam und der Braut entgegen.

Fünf aber von ihnen waren töricht, und fünf klug.

Aber die fünf törichten nahmen zwar ihre Lampen, aber nahmen kein Öl mit sich.

Die Klugen dagegen nahmen samt den Lampen auch Öl mit in ihren Gefäßen.

Da aber der Bräutigam verzog, wurden alle schläfrig und schlummerten ein.

Um Mitternacht aber erhob sich ein Geschrei: Sehet, der Bräutigam kommt, gehet heraus ihm entgegen!

Da standen alle jene Jungfrauen auf und richteten ihre Lampen zu.

Die törichten aber sprachen zu den Klugen: Gebet uns von eurem Öle; denn unsere Lampen erlöschen.

Die Klugen antworteten und sprachen: Es möchte nicht zureichen für uns und euch; gehet vielmehr hin zu den Krämern und kaufet für euch.

Während sie nun hingingen, zu kaufen, kam der Bräutigam; und die bereit waren, gingen mit ihm ein zur Hochzeit, und die Türe ward verschlossen.

Zuletzt aber kommen auch die übrigen Jungfrauen und sagen: Herr, Herr! Tue uns auf.

Er aber antwortete und sprach: Wahrlich, ich sage euch, ich kenne euch nicht!

Wachet also, weil ihr weder den Tag wisset, noch die Stunde!

Das Gleichnis von den Talenten

(Lukas 19,11-27)

Denn wie ein Mann, im Begriffe fortzureisen, seine Knechte rief, und ihnen seine Güter übergab.

Dem einen gab er fünf Talente, dem andern aber zwei, dem dritten aber eines, einem jeden nach seiner Befähigung, und reiste alsobald fort.

Der aber, welcher die fünf Talente empfangen hatte, ging hin, und wirtschaftete mit denselben, und gewann andere fünf.

Desgleichen gewann auch der, welcher die zwei empfangen hatte, andere zwei.

Derjenige aber, welcher das eine empfangen hatte, ging hin, und grub es in die Erde, und verbarg das Geld seines Herrn.

Nach langer Zeit aber kam der Herr jener Knechte, und hielt Abrechnung mit ihnen.

Und es trat derjenige hinzu, welcher die fünf Talente empfangen hatte, und brachte andere fünf Talente, und sagte: Herr! Fünf Talente hast du mir übergeben; siehe, ich habe noch fünf andere dazu gewonnen.

Da sprach sein Herr zu ihm: Trefflich, du guter und getreuer Knecht! Weil du über weniges getreu gewesen bist, werde ich dich über vieles setzen; gehe ein in die Freude deines Herrn!

Es trat auch derjenige hinzu, welcher zwei Talente empfangen hatte, und sagte: Herr! Zwei Talente hast du mir übergeben, siehe, ich habe andere zwei gewonnen.

Da sprach sein Herr zu ihm: Trefflich, du guter und getreuer Knecht! Weil du über weniges getreu gewesen bist, werde ich dich über vieles setzen; gehe ein in die Freude deines Herrn!

Es trat auch derjenige hinzu, welcher das eine Talent empfangen hatte, und sagte: Herr! Ich weiß, dass du ein harter Mann bist, du erntest, wo du nicht gesäet, und sammelst, wo du nicht ausgestreut hast;

und in Furcht ging ich hinweg, und verbarg dein Talent in der Erde. Siehe, da hast du, was dein ist!

Sein Herr aber antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Du schlechter und fauler Knecht! Du wusstest, dass ich ernte, wo ich nicht gesäet, und sammle, wo ich nicht ausgestreut habe;

du hättest mithin mein Geld den Wechslern übergeben sollen, und bei meiner Ankunft würde ich dann doch das Wenige mit Zins wieder erhalten haben.

Nehmet ihm also das Talent und gebt es dem, welcher die zehn Talente hat!

Denn jedem, der da hat, wird gegeben werden, und er wird in Überfluß haben; wer aber nicht hat, dem wird auch das, was er zu haben scheint, genommen werden.

Und den unnützen Knecht werfet in die Finsternis draußen hinaus, dort wird Heulen und Zähneknirschen sein.

Der Menschensohn wird die Völker richten

Wenn aber der Menschensohn in seiner Herrlichkeit kommen wird, und alle Engel mit ihm, dann wird er sich auf den Thron seiner Herrlichkeit setzen;

und es werden alle Völker vor ihm versammelt werden, und er wird sie voneinander scheiden, wie der Hirt die Schafe scheidet von den Böcken.

Die Schafe wird er zu seiner Rechten, die Böcke aber zu seiner Linken stellen.

Alsdann wird der König zu denen, welche zu seiner Rechten sein werden, sprechen: Kommet, ihr Gesegneten meines Vaters! Nehmet das Reich in Besitz, welches euch bereitet ist von Grundlegung der Welt an.

Denn ich war hungrig, und ihr habt mich gespeist; ich war durstig, und ihr habt mich getränkt; ich war fremd, und ihr habt mich beherbergt;

ich war nackt, und ihr habt mich bekleidet; ich war krank, und ihr habt mich besucht; ich war im Kerker, und ihr seid zu mir gekommen.

Dann werden ihm die Gerechten antworten, und sagen: Herr! Wann haben wir dich hungrig gesehen, und dich gespeist? Oder durstig, und dich getränkt?

Wann haben wir dich fremd gesehen, und dich beherbergt? Oder nackt, und dich bekleidet?

Oder wann haben wir dich krank gesehen, oder im Kerker, und sind zu dir gekommen?

Und der König wird antworten und zu ihnen sagen: Wahrlich, ich sage euch, so weit ihr es einem dieser meiner geringsten Brüder getan habt, habt ihr es mir getan!

Dann wird er auch zu denen auf der Linken sprechen: Weichet von mir, ihr Verfluchten! in das ewige Feuer, welches dem Teufel und seinen Engeln bereitet ist.

Denn ich war hungrig, und ihr habt mich nicht gespeist; ich war durstig, und ihr habt mich nicht getränkt;

ich war fremd, und ihr habt mich nicht beherbergt; ich war nackt, und ihr habt mich nicht bekleidet; ich war krank und im Kerker, und ihr habt mich nicht besucht.

Dann werden auch sie ihm antworten und sagen: Herr! Wann haben wir dich hungrig oder durstig, oder fremd, oder nackt, oder krank, oder im Kerker gesehen, und haben dir nicht gedient?

Dann wird er ihnen antworten und sagen: Wahrlich, ich sage euch, sofern ihr es einem dieser Geringsten nicht getan habt, habt ihr es auch mir nicht getan!

Und diese werden in ewige Pein gehen, die Gerechten aber in ewiges Leben.
