- Kapitel 17 -

(Matthew 18:6–9; Mark 9:42–48)

And He said to the disciples, “It is impossible for the stumbling blocks not to come, but woe [to him] through whom they come;

it is more profitable to him if a weighty millstone is put around his neck, and he has been cast into the sea, than that he may cause one of these little ones to stumble.

Take heed to yourselves, and if your brother may sin in regard to you, rebuke him, and if he may change his mind, forgive him,

and if seven times in the day he may sin against you, and seven times in the day may return to you, saying, I change my mind, you will forgive him.”

The Power of Faith

(Matthew 17:19–20)

And the apostles said to the LORD, “Add to us faith”;

and the LORD said, “If you had faith as a grain of mustard, you would have said to this sycamine, Be uprooted, and be planted in the sea, and it would have obeyed you.

But who is he of you—having a servant plowing or feeding—who, to him having come in out of the field, will say, Having come, recline at once?

But will not [rather] say to him, Prepare what I may dine, and having girded yourself around, minister to me, until I eat and drink, and after these things you will eat and drink?

Does he have favor to that servant because he did the things directed? I think not.

So also you, when you may have done all the things directed you, say, We are unprofitable servants, because that which we owed to do we have done.”

The Ten Lepers

(2 Kings 5:1–14)

And it came to pass, in His going on to Jerusalem, that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee,

and He entering into a certain village, there ten leprous men met Him, who stood far off,

and they lifted up the voice, saying, “Jesus, Master, deal kindly with us”;

and having seen [them], He said to them, “Having gone on, show yourselves to the priests”; and it came to pass, in their going, they were cleansed,

and one of them having seen that he was healed turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice,

and he fell on [his] face at His feet, giving thanks to Him, and he was a Samaritan.

And Jesus answering said, “Were not the ten cleansed, and the nine—where?

There were none found who turned back to give glory to God, except this foreigner”;

and He said to him, “Having risen, be going on, your faith has saved you.”

The Coming of the Kingdom

(Genesis 19:24–29)

And having been questioned by the Pharisees when the Kingdom of God comes, He answered them and said, “The Kingdom of God does not come with observation;

nor will they say, Behold, here; or, Behold, there; for behold, the Kingdom of God is within you.”

And He said to His disciples, “Days will come when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man and you will not behold [it];

and they will say to you, Behold, here; or, Behold, there; you may not go away, nor follow;

for as the lightning is flashing out of one [part] under the sky [and] shines to the other [part] under the sky, so will the Son of Man also be in His day;

and first it is necessary for Him to suffer many things, and to be rejected by this generation.

And as it came to pass in the days of Noah, so will it also be in the days of the Son of Man;

they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the Ark, and the flood came, and destroyed all;

in like manner also, as it came to pass in the days of Lot; they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building;

and on the day Lot went forth from Sodom, He rained fire and brimstone from the sky, and destroyed all.

According to these things it will be, in the day the Son of Man is revealed;

in that day, he who will be on the housetop, and his vessels in the house, do not let him come down to take them away; and he in the field, in like manner, do not let him turn backward;

remember the wife of Lot.

Whoever may seek to save his life, will lose it; and whoever may lose it, will preserve it.

I say to you, in that night there will be two [men] on one bed: one will be taken, and the other will be left;

two [women] will be grinding at the same place together: one will be taken, and the other will be left;

[[two [men] will be in the field: one will be taken, and the other left.”]]

And they answering say to Him, “Where, Lord?” And He said to them, “Where the body [is], there the eagles will be gathered together.”

Jesus warnt vor Vergehen

(Matthäus 18,6-9; Markus 9,42-48)

Und er sprach zu seinen Jüngern: Es ist unmöglich, dass keine Ärgernisse kommen; wehe aber jenem, durch welchen sie kommen!

Es wäre ihm nützer, wenn ihm ein Mühlstein an den Hals gehängt, und er in das Meer versenket würdet, als dass er einen von diesen Kleinen ärgerte.

Habet acht auf euch selbst! Wenn dein Bruder wider dich sündiget, so verweise es ihm; und wenn es ihn reut, so vergib ihm.

Und wenn er siebenmal des Tages wider dich sündiget, und siebenmal des Tages wieder zu dir kommt, und spricht: Es reuet mich! so vergib ihm.

Glaube und Pflicht

(Matthäus 17,19-20)

Und die Apostel sprachen zu dem Herrn: Mehre uns den Glauben!

Der Herr aber sprach: Wenn ihr einen Glauben wie ein Senfkorn habet, so werdet ihr zu diesem Maulbeerbaume sagen: Entwurzle dich, und verpflanze dich in das Meer! und er wird euch gehorchen.

Wer von euch, der einen Knecht hat als Ackerer oder Hirten, wird zu ihm, wenn er vom Felde zurückkommt, sagen: Gehe sogleich her, und setze dich zu Tische?

Wird er nicht vielmehr zu ihm sagen: Richte mein Abendessen zu, umgürte dich, und warte mir auf, bis ich gegessen und getrunken habe, und darnach wirst auch du essen und trinken?

Weiß er wohl diesem Knechte Dank, dass er getan, was er ihm befohlen hatte?

Ich meine nicht. Also auch ihr, wenn ihr alles getan habet, was euch geboten worden ist, so sprechet: Wir sind unnütze Knechte; wir haben nur getan, was wir schuldig waren zu tun.

Zehn Aussätzige werden gereinigt

(2. Könige 5,1-14)

Und es geschah, als er auf dem Wege nach Jerusalem war, zog er mitten durch Samaria und Galiläa.

Und als er in einen Flecken kam, begegneten ihm zehn aussätzige Männer, welche von ferne stehen blieben.

Und sie erhoben ihre Stimme, und sprachen: Jesus, Meister, erbarme dich unser!

Und da er sie sah, sprach er: Gehet hin, zeiget euch den Priestern! Und es geschah, indem sie hingingen, wurden sie rein.

Ein einziger aber von ihnen kehrte, als er sah, dass er rein sei, um, Gott mit lauter Stimme preisend.

Und er fiel auf sein Angesicht ihm zu Füßen, und sagte ihm Dank. Und dieser war ein Samaritan.

Da antwortete Jesus, und sprach: Sind nicht zehn rein geworden? Wo sind denn die neun?

Keiner fand sich, der zurückkäme, und Gott die Ehre gäbe, als dieser Fremdling.

Und er sprach zu ihm: Stehe auf, gehe hin; dein Glaube hat dir geholfen!

Das Kommen des Reiches Gottes

(1. Mose 19,24-29)

Als er aber von den Pharisäern gefragt wurde: Wann kommt das Reich Gottes? antwortete er ihnen, und sprach: Das Reich Gottes kommt nicht mit äußerlichem Gepränge;

auch wird man nicht sagen: Siehe, hier ist es, oder, siehe dort; denn siehe, das Reich Gottes ist unter euch.

Und er sprach zu seinen Jüngern: Es werden Tage kommen, da ihr wünschen werdet, einen einzigen Tag des Menschensohnes zu sehen, und ihr werdet ihn nicht sehen.

Und man wird zu euch sagen: Siehe, hier ist er, oder siehe dort! Gehet nicht dahin, und folget nicht nach!

Denn gleichwie der unter dem Himmel hervorstrahlende Blitz alles beleuchtet, was unter dem Himmel ist, so wird es auch mit dem Menschensohne an seinem Tage sein.

Zuvor aber muss er vieles leiden, und von diesem Geschlechte verworfen werden.

Und gleichwie es zuging in den Tagen des Noe, so wird es auch in den Tagen des Menschensohnes sein.

Sie aßen und tranken, sie nahmen Frauen, und wurden zur Ehe gegeben bis auf den Tag, an welchem Noe in die Arche ging; und es kam die Flut, und vertilgte alle.

Desgleichen wie es in den Tagen des Lot geschah: Sie aßen und tranken, sie kauften und verkauften, sie pflanzten und bauten;

an dem Tage aber, da Lot aus Sodoma ging, regnete es Feuer und Schwefel vom Himmel, und vertilgte alle.

Auf gleiche Weise wird es zugehen an dem Tage, an welchem der Menschensohn sich offenbaren wird.

Wer in jener Stunde auf dem Dache ist, und sein Hausgerät im Hause hat, steige nicht hinab, um es zu holen; und wer auf dem Felde ist, kehre ebenfalls nicht zurück!

Gedenket an Lots Weib!

Wer immer sein Leben zu retten sucht, wird es verlieren; und wer immer es verliert, der wird es lebendig erhalten.

Ich sage euch: In jener Nacht werden zwei auf einem Lager sein; der eine wird angenommen, der andere zurückgelassen werden.

Zwei werden miteinander beim Mahlen sein; die eine wird angenommen, die andere zurückgelassen werden. Zwei werden auf dem Felde sein; der eine wird angenommen, der andere zurückgelassen werden.

Sie antworteten, und sprachen zu ihm: Wo, Herr?

Und er sprach zu ihnen: Wo der Leichnam ist, dort werden sich auch die Adler versammeln.
