- Kapitel 27 -

(Numbers 36:1–13)

Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the sonne of Hepher, the sonne of Gilead, the sonne of Machir, the sonne of Manasseh, of the familie of Manasseh, the sonne of Ioseph (and the names of his daughters were these, Mahlah, Noah and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah)

And stoode before Moses, and before Eleazar the Priest, and before the Princes, and all the assemblie, at the doore of the Tabernacle of the Congregation, saying,

Our father dyed in the wildernes, and he was not among the assemblie of them that were assembled against the Lord in the companie of Korah, but died in his sinne, and had no sonnes.

Wherefore should the name of our father be taken away from among his familie, because he hath no sonne? giue vs a possession among the brethren of our father.

Then Moses brought their cause before the Lord.

And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,

The daughters of Zelophehad speake right: thou shalt giue them a possession to inherite among their fathers brethren, and shalt turne the inheritance of their father vnto them.

Also thou shalt speake vnto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die and haue no sonne, then ye shall turne his inheritaunce vnto his daughter.

And if he haue no daughter, ye shall giue his inheritance vnto his brethren.

And if he haue no brethren, ye shall giue his inheritance vnto his fathers brethren.

And if his father haue no brethren, ye shall giue his inheritance vnto his next kinsman of his familie, and he shall possesse it: and this shall be vnto the children of Israel a law of iudgement, as the Lord hath commanded Moses.

Moses Requests a Successor

(Deuteronomy 3:23–29)

Againe the Lord said vnto Moses, Go vp into this mount of Abarim, and behold ye lande which I haue giuen vnto the children of Israel.

And when thou hast seene it, thou shalt be gathered vnto thy people also, as Aaron thy brother was gathered.

For ye were disobedient vnto my worde in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the assemblie, to sanctifie me in the waters before their eyes. That is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wildernesse of Zin.

Then Moses spake vnto the Lord, saying,

Let the Lord God of the spirits of all flesh appoint a man ouer the Congregation,

Who may goe out and in before them, and leade them out and in, that the Congregation of the Lord be not as sheepe, which haue not a shepheard.

Joshua to Succeed Moses

(Deuteronomy 31:1–8)

And the Lord said vnto Moses, Take thee Ioshua the sonne of Nun, in whom is the Spirite, and put thine handes vpon him,

And set him before Eleazar the Priest, and before all the Congregation, and giue him a charge in their sight.

And giue him of thy glory, that all the Congregation of ye children of Israel may obey.

And he shall stande before Eleazar the Priest, who shall aske counsell for him by the iudgement of Vrim before the Lord: at his worde they shall goe out, and at his worde they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him and all the Congregation.

So Moses did as the Lord had commanded him, and he tooke Ioshua, and set him before Eleazar the Priest, and before all the Congregation.

Then he put his handes vpon him, and gaue him a charge, as the Lord had spoken by the hand of Moses.

Erbschaftsgesetze

(4. Mose 36,1-13)

Es traten aber die Töchter des Salphaad herzu, des Sohnes Hephers, des Sohnes Galaads, des Sohnes Machirs, des Sohnes Manasses, der ein Sohn Josephs war; ihre Namen waren: Maala, Noa, Hegla, Melcha und Thersa.

Diese traten vor Moses und Eleazar, den Priester, und alle Fürsten des Volkes, an dem Eingange des Zeltes des Bundes, und sprachen:

Unser Vater ist in der Wüste gestorben und war nicht bei dem Aufruhr, welcher gegen den Herrn unter Kore erregt ward, sondern starb um seiner eigenen Sünde willen; er hatte keine männlichen Nachkommen. Warum soll nun sein Name aus seiner Familie verschwinden, weil er keinen Sohn hatte? Gebet uns Erbbesitz unter den Verwandten unsers Vaters!

Da brachte Moses ihre Sache zur Entscheidung vor den Herrn.

Dieser sprach zu ihm:

Gerecht ist, was die Töchter Salphaads verlangen; gib ihnen Erbbesitz unter den Verwandten ihres Vaters, sie sollen ihm in Ehre nachfolgen.

Zu den Söhnen Israels aber sprich also:

Wenn jemand stirbt, ohne einen Sohn zu hinterlassen, so soll das Erbe auf seine Tochter übergehen;

hat er keine Tochter, so soll er seine Brüder zu Nachfolgern haben.

Hat er auch keine Brüder, so sollt ihr das Erbe den Brüdern seines Vaters geben.

Hat er aber auch keine Vatersbrüder, so soll das Erbe denen übergeben werden, die ihm am nächsten verwandt sind; dies soll den Söhnen Israels heilig sein als ewig geltendes Recht, wie der Herr dem Moses befohlen hat.

Josua, der nächste Anführer Israels

(5. Mose 3,23-29)

Und der Herr sprach zu Moses: Steige auf das Gebirge Abarim hier selbst und schaue von dort das Land, welches ich den Söhnen Israels geben werde.

Und wenn du es gesehen hast, wirst auch du zu deinem Volke gehen, wie dein Bruder Aaron gegangen ist,

weil ihr mich in der Wüste Sin bei der Empörung der Gemeinde beleidigt habt und mich nicht vor derselben bei dem Wasser habt verherrlichen wollen; das ist das Wasser des Widerspruches zu Kades in der Wüste Sin.

Und Moses antwortete ihm:

Der Herr, der Gott der Geister alles Fleisches, wolle einen Mann ausersehen, der dieser Gemeinde vorstehe;

der an ihrer Spitze ausziehen und heimziehen, der sie aus- und einführen könne, auf dass das Volk des Herrn nicht sei wie Schafe, die keinen Hirten haben.

(5. Mose 31,1-8)

Und der Herr sprach zu ihm: Nimm Josue, den Sohn Nuns, einen Mann, in dem der Geist Gottes ist, und lege ihm deine Hand auf.

Er trete vor Eleazar, den Priester, und die ganze Gemeinde,

und du sollst ihm vor aller Augen Vorschriften und einen Teil deiner Herrlichkeit geben, damit ihm die ganze Gemeinde der Söhne Israels gehorsam sei.

Und soll etwas geschehen, so befrage Eleazar, den Priester, den Herrn für ihn. Nach seiner Anordnung soll er, und alle Söhne Israels, und die übrige Gemeinde mit ihm ausziehen und einziehen.

Da tat Moses, wie der Herr befohlen hatte. Und er nahm Josue und stellte ihn vor Eleazar, den Priester, und vor alles versammelte Volk;

sodann legte er ihm die Hände auf das Haupt und wiederholte ihm alles, was der Herr geboten hatte.
