- Kapitel 41 -

Keep silence before mee, O ylands, and let the people renue their strength: let the come neere, and let them speake: let vs come together into iudgement.

Who raised vp iustice from the East, and called him to his foote? and gaue the nations before him, and subdued the Kings? he gaue them as dust to his sword, and as scattered stubble vnto his bowe.

He pursued them, and passed safely by the way that he had not gone with his feete.

Who hath wrought and done it? he that calleth the generations from the beginning. I the Lord am the first, and with the last I am ye same.

The yles sawe it, and did feare, and the ends of the earth were abashed, drew neere, and came.

Euery man helped his neighbour, and saide to his brother, Be strong.

So the workeman comforted the founder, and he that smote with ye hammer, him that smote by course, saying, It is ready for the sodering, and he fastened it with nayles that it shoulde not be mooued.

But thou, Israel, art my seruant, and thou Iaakob, whom I haue chosen, the seede of Abraham my friend.

For I haue taken thee from the endes of the earth, and called thee before the chiefe thereof, and saide vnto thee, Thou art my seruant: I haue chosen thee, and not cast thee away.

Feare thou not, for I am with thee: be not afraide, for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee, and helpe thee, and will susteine thee with the right hand of my iustice.

Beholde, all they that prouoke thee, shalbe ashamed, and confounded: they shalbe as nothing, and they that striue with thee, shall perish.

Thou shalt seeke them and shalt not finde them: to wit, the men of thy strife, for they shall be as nothing, and the men that warre against thee, as a thing of nought.

For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying vnto thee, Feare not, I wil helpe thee.

Feare not, thou worme, Iaakob, and ye men of Israel: I wil helpe thee, sayth the Lord and thy redeemer the holy one of Israel.

Behold, I wil make thee a roller, and a newe threshing instrument hauing teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountaines, and bring them to pouder, and shalt make the hilles as chaffe.

Thou shalt fanne them, and the winde shall carie them away, and the whirlewinde shall scatter them: and thou shalt reioyce in the Lord, and shalt glory in the holy one of Israel.

When the poore and the needy seeke water, and there is none (their tongue faileth for thirst: I the Lord will heare them: I the God of Israel will not forsake them)

I will open riuers in the toppes of the hils, and fountaines in the middes of the valleis: I will make the wildernesse as a poole of water, and the waste land as springs of water.

I will set in the wildernesse the cedar, the shittah tree, and the mirre tree, and the pine tree, and I will set in the wildernesse the firre tree, the elme and the boxe tree together.

Therefore let them see and knowe, and let them consider and vnderstande together that the hand of the Lord hath done this, and the holy one of Israel hath created it.

Meaningless Idols

Stand to your cause, saith the Lord: bring forth your strong reasons, saith ye King of Iaakob.

Let them bring foorth, and let them tell vs what shall come: let them shew the former things what they be, that wee may consider them, and knowe the latter ende of them: either declare vs things for to come.

Shewe the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that you are gods: yea, doe good or doe euill, that we may declare it, and beholde it together.

Beholde, ye are of no value, and your making is of naught: man hath chosen an abomination by them.

I haue raised vp from the North, and he shall come: from the East sunne shall he cal vpon my Name, and shall come vpon princes as vpon clay, and as the potter treadeth myre vnder the foote.

Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may knowe? or before time, that we may say, He is righteous? Surely there is none that sheweth: surely there is none that declareth: surely there is none that heareth your wordes.

I am the first, that saieth to Zion, Beholde, beholde them: and I will giue to Ierusalem one that shall bring good tidings.

But when I behelde, there was none, and when I inquired of them, there was no counsellor, and when I demaunded of them, they answered not a woorde.

Beholde, they are all vanitie: their worke is of nothing, their images are wind and confusion.

Israel ist sich der Hilfe Gottes sicher

Es mögen schweigend auf mich achten die Inseln und Kräfte sammeln die Völker, sie mögen herantreten und dann reden, wir wollen zusammen in den Rechtsstreit eintreten!

Wer erweckte vom Aufgange her den Gerechten, rief ihn, dass er ihm folge? Er gibt vor seinem Antlitze die Völker hin und Könige unterwirft er; er gibt sie wie Staub hin seinem Schwerte, wie Spreu, die der Wind fortweht, seinem Bogen.

Er verfolgt sie und schreitet hin in Sicherheit, man merkt seinen Füßen den weiten Weg nicht an.

Wer hat dies gewirkt und vollführt, die Geschlechter von Anfang her rufend? Ich, der Herr, der erste und Letzte bin ich!

Die Inseln sahen es und fürchteten sich, die Enden der Erde erschraken; sie traten heran und kamen herzu.

Einer leistet dem andern Beistand und sagt zu seinem Nächsten: Habe Mut!

Es ermutigt der Erzarbeiter mit dem Hammer schlagend den, der gleichzeitig glättet, und spricht: An Lötung ist es trefflich! Und er befestigt es mit Nägeln, dass es nicht wanke.

Und du Israel, mein Knecht, Jakob, den ich erkoren, Nachkommenschaft Abrahams, meines Freundes,

in welchem ich dich von den Enden der Erde her ergriffen und von deren Ferne her dich berufen und dir gesagt habe: Mein Knecht bist du, ich habe dich erwählt und dich nicht verschmäht!

Fürchte dich nicht, denn ich bin mit dir; wanke nicht, denn ich bin dein Gott; ich habe dich gestärkt und dir Hilfe gebracht und die Hand meines Gerechten hat dich aufgenommen.

Siehe, es werden beschämt und zuschanden werden alle, die wider dich kämpfen, sie werden sein wie ein Nichts und zugrunde gehen werden die Männer, die wider dich ankämpfen.

Du wirst sie suchen und nicht finden, die Männer, die sich wider dich erheben, sie werden sein wie ein Nichts und wie Vernichtung die Menschen, die wider dich Krieg führen.

Denn ich, der Herr, dein Gott, bin es, der deine Hand erfasst und zu dir spricht: Fürchte dich nicht, ich helfe dir!

So fürchte dich nicht, du Würmlein Jakob, ihr Gestorbenen aus Israel! Ich helfe dir, spricht der Herr, und dein Erlöser ist der heilige Israels.

Ich mache dich zu einem neuen Dreschwagen, der scharfe Zacken hat; du wirst Berge dreschen und zermalmen und Hügel dem Staub gleichmachen.

Du wirst sie worfeln und der Wind wird sie wegführen und der Wirbelsturm sie zerstreuen, du aber wirst frohlocken im Herrn, dich erfreuen in dem Heiligen Israels.

Die Dürftigen und Armen suchen Wasser und es ist keines da, ihre Zunge ist vor Durst verdorrt; ich, der Herr, werde sie erhören, ich, der Gott Israels, werde sie nicht verlassen.

Ich will Ströme öffnen auf den Senkungen der Hügel und Quellen mitten in der Ebene, will die Wüste zu Wassertiefen wandeln und das unwegsame Land zu Wasserbächen.

Ich will Zedern in der Einöde sprossen lassen, Akazien und Myrten und Ölbäume, Tannen will ich pflanzen in der Wüste, Ulmen und Buchsbaum allzumal;

damit sie sehen und erkennen und beherzigen und verstehen allzumal, dass die Hand des Herrn dies vollbrachte und der Heilige Israels es gewirkt hat.

Die Vergeblichkeit der Götzen

Bringet eure Rechtssache herbei! spricht der Herr; leget vor, was ihr etwa Beweiskräftiges habt! Spricht der König Jakobs.

Sie mögen herantreten und uns verkünden, was geschehen wird; das Frühere, was war es? saget an, und wir wollen darauf merken und dessen Ausgang sehen; und was eintreten wird, zeiget uns an!

Verkündet, was in der Zukunft eintreten wird, so werden wir erkennen, dass ihr Götter seid! Gutes oder Böses vollbringet, wenn ihr könnt, so wollen wir verhandeln und sehen allzumal!

Sehet, ihr seid vom Nichts und euer Tun ist vom Nichts; ein Greuel ist, wer euch erwählte!

Ich erweckte ihn von Mitternacht her und er kam herbei von Sonnenaufgang, er wird meinen Namen anrufen und Machthaber niedertreten wie Lehm und wie der Töpfer den Ton zerknetet.

Wer hat es von Anfang her verkündet, dass wir wissen, und von ehedem, dass wir sagen: Du bist im Rechte? Da ist keiner, der verkündete oder vorhersagte noch der eure Worte hörte.

Der Erste spricht zu Sion: Siehe, da sind sie und für Jerusalem gebe ich Heilsverkünder.

Und ich sah zu und es war niemand unter ihnen, der einen Rat gewusst und, wenn man ihn fragte, eine Antwort gegeben hätte.

Siehe, alle sind im Unrecht und eitel sind ihre Werke, ein Hauch und ein Nichts sind ihre Bilder!
